About the Author

James N. Danziger is a Research Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Irvine, where he also has served as Chair of the Department of Political Science, campus-wide Dean of Undergraduate �Education, and Chair of the Academic Senate. He is recipient of many honors and awards, including a Marshall Scholarship (to Great Britain), a Foreign Area Fellowship, Woodrow Wilson Fellowship, Phi Beta Kappa, and an IBM Faculty Award. He received the first UC Irvine Distinguished Faculty Lectureship Award for Teaching in 1987, the UC Irvine Distinguished Service Award in 1997, and the campus’ highest honor, the Extraordinarius Award in 2009. His Ph.D. is from Stanford University, and he has held visiting appointments at the universities of Aarhus (Denmark), Pittsburgh, and Virginia. His research has received awards from the American Political Science Association and the American Society for Public Administration. He has published extensively, particularly on information technology and politics, and been an active participant in local politics.

Charles Anthony Smith received his PhD in political science from the University of California-San Diego (2004) and his JD from the University of Florida (1987). He is an Associate Professor at the University of California-Irvine. His books include The Rise and Fall of War Crimes Trials: from Charles I to Bush II (NY: Cambridge University Press, 2012), and Globalizing Human Rights (NY: Routledge 2014). He has published articles in Law & Society Review, Political Research Quarterly, Justice System Journal, International Political Science Review, Judicature, Journal of Human Rights, Election Law Journal, Studies in Law, Politics & Society, Human Rights Review, Journal of International Relations & Development among other journals and published chapters in edited volumes with Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, and University of Pennsylvania Press, among others. He has served as guest editor for special issues of the Journal of Human Rights and Human Rights Review. His research considers the role of courts, law, and litigation in the contestation over a variety of types of rights. He considers this unifying research theme using a variety of methodologies in the context of the United States, in comparative contexts, and in the realm of international relations and globalization. He has won a variety of awards for both his teaching and research.

Really hits the nail on the head!

The book is an easy read that hits all the major concerns about interviewing - and how to handle them appropriately. It's not preachy, and isn't trying to sell you a list of interview questions like so many other "How To Interview" books.

I recommend it to anyone who is trying to land a job. It helps you understand what prospective employers are really looking for in an interview.

Highly recommended

A true expert is able to make a complex subject easy to understand. Friedenson, the author, is an expert at interviewing. This book can be read in an evening, but don't mistake its brevity for lack of thoroughness. Rather, it presents simple but powerful frameworks that enable the reader to focus their efforts on giving the interviewer the key points they're looking for. I had a big interview I was nervous about - I hadn't been on the job market for years. I read this book, did the preparation suggested, and nailed the interview. I even slept well the night before because I was able to direct my nervous energy towards rehearsing the plan laid out in the book. You could waste hours reading bad interview advice that overwhelms you with minutia. This book saves you that time. Considering how little this book costs, this is the definition of value. Buy it - you won't regret it.

A Great Asset for Job Seekers and even First Time Interviewers

I got this book because I was compelled by the small number of pages. I came away impressed because it synthesizes the main challenges of interviewing and provides actionable strategies for the true job seeker. Specifically, this book highlights some tactics to avoid rambling during an interview, a common yet catastrophic mistake most interviewees make.
This book will also help you if you're getting started interviewing candidates, as it gives you a nice benchmark to judge a candidate's ability to structure a problem and their level of preparation for the interview.
Don't look here If you're looking for a big book of questions and answers. However, I would question your job seeking strategy and motivation if you can't put the work to create compelling answers that tell your own story. You can Google interview questions and answers, but be aware that your interviewer can find the same answers as easily as you and you will be caught. You need to differentiate yourself in the job search, and Googling answers isn't a way to do it. Thinking through how to crisply and concisely tell your story will, thus my 5 star rating for this book.

Summary:
"Rainforest Escape" contains approx. 49 full size images, 5 pages of introductory material, a 5 page index in the back, and a single page of author information. It measures 9 x 9.5 inches and is sewn into a heavy textured cover with a lay flat binding. Featuring line drawings of rainforest plants and animals, this book is appropriate for adult colorists on all skill levels.

Paper:
The paper in this book is cream colored and very heavy(like watercolor paper). All pages are single sided and perforated. All mediums should be okay to use, but be sure to place several sheets of blotter paper under your picture if you use markers.

Artwork:
As the title implies, "Rainforest Escape" focuses on botanicals and wildlife found in the rainforests of the Caribbean. Inside you'll see birds, lizards, plants, tropical drinks, jaguars, patterns, and more. Some of the images are fully illustrated with foreground and background elements, while others are composed of several smaller pieces. The majority of the pictures are the size of a single page, but there are around 10 fold-out double page spreads as well. All artwork does end before entering the binding, so it can be removed without compromising anything. Detail level varies a bit throughout and there are a few messy areas in the printing(probably due to the type of paper used). Picture completion time should range from 3-8 hours(may be slightly different for each individual). Overall, this is a nicely composed book with lots of really great features. It would be best suited for colorists who enjoy island scenery/plants and peaceful imagery.

Another Beautiful Tropical Coloring Book by Jane Gedeon and this time it focuses on tropical plants and animals

As soon as I received it, I purchased a second copy and then pre-ordered two copies of “Rainforest Escape.” It is really just that good. I want to be able to color one book with colored pencils and use the second one for my learning purposes.

In this new book Ms. Gedeon explores the plants and animals of her tropical experiences (the previous book focused considerably on architecture.) The designs remind me of my own tropical vacations in the Caribbean, Hawaii, and even Bali. There is a lush feeling to the vegetation that makes me remember how it felt to actually be in a rainforest environment.

The paper is a cream tone and is heavyweight watercolor paper. There are ten double page fold-out designs. All of the pages are perforated for easy removal from the book. While the book is sewn binding, none of the designs cross over the perforations. If you want to remove pages to frame them, you won't lose any portion of the design in taking the page out via the perforations.

I found, once again, that all of my coloring medium worked well with this paper. The only issue I had was with some of my Copic markers that were extremely full and “juicy”. With those, there was a slight tendency for feathering.

This is what I experienced in coloring in this book and testing my coloring medium on the paper. I didn't text any form of watercolor medium as I am just learning how to use it. Because of that, I shy away from saying how it worked for me as any issues I come across are sure to be because of my inexperience rather than any issue with the book. I will provide a list of the coloring medium I use for testing and for most of my coloring projects in the comments section below.

Alcohol-based markers bleed through the page and can feather side-to-side if the marker is “juicy”

Water-based markers, India ink pens, and gel pens do not bleed through the paper. Gel pens dry exceptionally quick with this paper.

Colored pencils work well with the page though, due to the texture, it takes several layers to get a deep pigment. Both oil and wax based pencils worked equally well. I was able to get good color, layer different colors easily and blend extremely easily using a pencil style blender stick.

If you consider yourself as advanced colorist, sick and tired of paisleys that fill any and every object, this is the book you should try. Lineart is detailed and beautiful. You color what you see as is. No paisley(not that I hate paisley stuff, but there are too many out there)

Paper: 5/5
Single-side printed pages, thick watercolor paper and perforated page - exactly what every coloring book should do but don't! This book will work with all colored pencils, markers and watercolor. Personally I don't know if artists have any say in paper quality but I sure hope they do catch on this. It is very annoying to see books with gorgeous art, only with meh paper. I am willing for pay for quality.

Coloring Medium: 5/5
This book is intended for heavy materials like watercolor or markers. While markers still might shadow(but not bleed) to the back side it takes both marker inks and watercolors very well. The pages are perforated so it is easy to tear out each page - you shouldn't have to worry about something bleeding through. Personally I am a heavy marker user and have not had bleeding incident with this book yet. Do take note that markers(especially alcohol-based) will feather a bit when you are coloring fine/tiny tipped areas like tips of leaves etc.

I strongly feel that there should be more books like this. I am tired of being limited by poor paper quality or having to give up what I like to color with, by the way the book is printed(single/double side printing thus limiting markers etc). While this is one of higher priced books it is definitely worth it, but may be not right for beginners. Personally, I am very happy with two books came so far and will by her all future books.
