ALEX BACHMUTSKY has broad experience of almost 30 years in various areas of software development, software, hardware and system architecture, technology selection and evaluation, including wireless infrastructure, security, packet processing technologies, pattern recognition, networking, high availability and multimedia. At Nokia and later at Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), Alex has been a Chief Architect for state-of-the-art high performance telecommunication gateways, from multi-chassis and multi-blade systems to pizza-box type devices integrating the latest available packet processing and system architectures. One of the best contemporary YA novels I've ever read!

Anna And The French Kiss is probably one of the best contemporary novels I've ever read. Stephanie Perkins writes a believable romance with completely believable characters to create a novel that was so unbelievably good that I didn't put it down once.

Anna Oliphant will go down in history as one of my favorite female characters of all-time. From the very first page, I knew I'd love her. She's quirky and eccentric, but still has plenty of those girly "teenage" emotions. And I also loved that her and �tienne St. Clair, a gorgeous student at her new boarding school, are just best friends for a good chunk of the novel. With a story like this, Perkins could've easily did the whole "love at first sight" thing, but I'm so glad that she didn't. Another thing I admired was that Anna is not a damsel in distress. St. Clair helps her out a lot, but if anything, I think that she saves him a lot more. It really breaks from the mold of typical YA romance.

This is not a perfect, fairy-tale romance either. Anna and St. Clair's relationship has a lot of ups and downs. He's got a serious girlfriend and Anna is still harboring feelings for an old co-worker back in America. But even with those obstacles in the way, the story still progresses, as do their feelings. And it literally leaps off the pages. At times, I would hold the book away from me so that I could squeal/swoon without damaging it!

Overall, I have no appropriate words to do justice to how much I loved Anna And The French Kiss. This book is cute, intense, romantic, funny, dramatic and so much more. Even if you're not into contemporary novels, I definitely recommend you check this one out. I think it might just change your mind!

Funny, poignant, and sexy

As cute as I think the cover of ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS is, I don't think it does the book justice. For one thing, this cover implies that the book is just some sweet, cute little romance about a girl and a boy in Paris. And while it is at times cute--and romantic--and even sweet...it's so much more than that. For one thing, I laughed like a freak reading this. ANNA has a razor sharp sense of humor that appeals to one's intelligence while still maintaining a youthful world-view. Any book that can make me that smiley must be something special. But it's more than just quick-witted humor, you know? Anna's voice is so strong, so incredibly real. All of her actions and dialogue are consistent with who she is. I would have LOVED to have a friend like Anna--no, check that. I would LOVE to be Anna, just like her, down to the bleached stripe and all. Anna is just so genuinely, so beautifully seventeen.

Everything about her is spot on, down to the way she views her dad. I mean, at first I thought to myself, okay, the dad is kind of a weaselly dork, but, whatever, people like him are nothing to get upset about. But to a seventeen year old girl like Anna, a dad like hers would feel like a nightmare, and through her eyes, I actually found myself detesting him just as much--talk about brilliant characterization.

But Anna is more than just a well-written seventeen year old, she's also a stranger in a foreign land, and Perkins does a remarkable job illustrating the trials and tribulations of an expat's life. I've been an expat, and I can't tell you how many times I thought, "Yes YES YES! That's what it's like!" I have to believe that Perkins must have actually studied abroad. Anna's Paris was the same Paris I've experienced, down to the nutella-filled crepes and the sticky sweetness of mille-feuille. She even goes to Shakespeare and Co, my favorite book store ever! Except Anna's experience was colored by her age, her love of films, and (at first) her fear and resentment (also a sign of excellent characterization). I'll just be upfront with you, if you read this, the first thing you will want to do is plan a trip to Paris. And then you will fantasize what it would be to like to go to school there...and fall in love with a hot English boy. It's just so dang bittersweet because I CAN'T BE SEVENTEEN AGAIN.

Okay, I'll be honest, the way that �tienne St. Claire is described doesn't exactly appeal to my tastes. Which is okay because I'm an old person. And he's a teenager. But seeing him through Anna's eyes, it's pretty much impossible not to fall in love with him. He's just so...dreamy. Indeed, every scene is filled with live-wire tension. The romance in ANNA is naturally progressed, but the desire feels so alive, so palpable that these characters and their relationship come to feel so real. But like I said, it's more than just a romance. It's a representation of what it is to be on the cusp of adulthood...the fears and dreams and hopes and embarrassment and sweetness of discovery--all of it reflected in Anna's experience living in a foreign country, which is essentially a perfect analogy for adolescence's evolution (a journey to a place where you haven't yet learned the customs and may not even speak the language). ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS is a smooth read--funny, poignant, full of heart and sexy as all get out.

A Best Book of 2010!

I am absolutely in love with this book! The story whisks you away to Paris and evokes the city completely. The romance is delicious and tingly and real - these are well-drawn characters grappling with real emotions and, dare I say, true love. Stephanie has crafted rich characters who come alive with flaws and complexities. You will root for them and your heart will melt. Amazing!!!!!!

Intimately Confidential

Perhaps not what you would expect -- it's not about scoops and how they are turned up from one of hockey's top reporters. This is a book about hockey and how it dominates the lives of so many, and in so many special ways. You feel better after reading it!

Excellent - best hockey book I've read this year (at least so far)

Bob McKenzie is often ranked as one of – if not the – best of the modern day hockey writers. His book, “Hockey Confidential”, reflects that. It is not a traditional hockey book, as the stories it contains are not cookie cutter player biographies or team histories. They look at the game and its participants from other angles.

For example, the author interviews rising star John Tavares, along with his uncle, lacrosse superstar John Tavares. The two compare and contrast their backgrounds and their chosen sports, while looking at their careers from opposite ends of their respective duration. Another chapter features an interview with Tragically Hip's lead singer, Gord Downie; Downie (who subsequently revealed he suffers from a terminal brain cancer) represents not just a musical artist who has been known to reference hockey in his works, BUT is simply Every Fan who circumstance allowed to mingle with his hockey heroes as an equal.

The most intense, longest, and perhaps controversial chapter deals with Sheldon Keefe. Keefe is currently a coach, but began his professional life under the thrall of controversial agent / Svengali / David Frost. Frost's most famous client, Mike Danton, went to jail for conspiring to kill him – Keefe discusses his relationship with both men. AND, most informatively, discusses how his background provided him with the experiences to help other young players avoid such career – and life – pitfalls.

If you want to read a traditiional sports biography, or collection of anecdotes, you may not enjoy this work. However, I found this to be one of the most well-written hockey books I've EVER read – and I've read hundreds since I picked up Johnny Bucyk's autobiography in the 1970s. I definitely recommend giving “Hockey Confidential” a read.

This is the only book of three books which I used to study Expression Web which goes into the basic and shows clearly what is going on. If you do not have a background in the software, this book is a must.

Worth the cost, but not written for the layman.

The good: Information dense introduction to jet engines. Written for engineers and others with a basic understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.

The bad: College level text written for engineers and others with a basic understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics. If your technical education consists of Popular Science and Wikipedia, buy a different book.

Overall: Worth the cost.

Pretty techy...

Quite techy, despite the assurance in the preface that "no maths" will be involved. Not sure what he calls two full pages of equations on supersonic computational fluid dynamics, if not "maths." In fact, the book is heavy on supersonic flow, how to change engine design to mitigate shockwaves, etc. It;s this author's field, and it shows. Definitely assumes an engineering background and a solid knowledge of physics and undergraduate-level math for those in the sciences.

This book brings to life a decade that I thought was dead. Excitingly written by the dude that wrote that Stone Roses book and its as good. He's got a total grip on pop culture and an added enthusiasm...plus its as funny as hell...this is one cool book...totally recomended...

Dallas & Ax

I love this series but this book didn't feel like the same series. I was really looking forward to Dallas and Ax's story. There were parts I gad to go back and re-read because I thought I missed something. One minute Ax and Dallas are only having another weekend fling and then Ax is referring to her as his girlfriend. What was the point of Ax and Gabriella performing together that last time? Ok, I know I'm probably in the minority here but I have to say it. The whole "Emmie is so wonderful. Emmie can get anything done and fast. Everyone loves Emmie so much that she is their go to for everything. Emmie is so great everyone feels the need to tell her they love her all the time" is getting old an definitey has run its course for me. I will say I enjoyed the break from all the "Oh my gods". AND must Ax always be referred to as the "rock god" almost every time Dallas thinks about him. Gabriella the "little Italian rocker" everytime she was thought of or talked about. And don't even get me started on Shane always being referred to as a man whore. Come on, give the guy a break. He's not that guy anymore. I found myelf rolling my eyes more with this one. BUT I will be reading the next one.

MANY MORE THAN FIVE STARS!!

When I love an author and all her books as much as I love Terri Anne Browning and her Rockers series, I actually find it harder to write a review. I am so in love with these characters and their stories, it’s as if they are family to me. The Demons Wings rockers are so amazing, and I just knew that Terri Anne Browning could keep it going with the hot band members of OtherWorld.

TRWWM is Axton’s story. We’ve already met these rockers and girls, as their lives are intertwined with those of the Demons. Now it’s time for their stories to be told and Axton and Dallas are the perfect way to start. Their story is one filled with emotion and made me fall in love with Axton harder than I ever thought I would. I could not put down my Kindle I had to read straight through and lost sleep doing so. Now that’s a sign of a truly great read! And Dallas – I love her character and felt like I was right there beside her through everything she experienced. I do feel I should mention that, like all the previous books in this series, there is plenty of HOTNESS so be prepared for some truly amazingly steamy scenes.

Terri Anne Browning has a way of bringing her characters to life in such a way that you just do not want their stories to end. The emotion pours through the pages and you experience all of it on the way to an HEA that just makes you smile. I love each and every one of her books and her characters and fall in love with this series more and more each time a new story is told. I do suggest starting at Book 1 if you haven’t yet read the Rockers series and read them in order to fully enjoy every moment. Thank you Terri Anne Browning for giving us Ax’s story; I cannot wait for the next one!

This is SUCH A GREAT BOOK! Axton and Dallas' story is not only hot, but it's beautiful to read and was beautifully written! Terri Anne has knocked it out of the park again and did a wonderful job leading into the stories of the members of OtherWorld after wrapping up the stories of the Demon's Wings members.

Axton has loved Dallas since he first saw her but has never been able to say those words out loud. After falsely believing he was in love with his best friend and being in a toxic relationship with a rocker chick, Axton knows he's found the love of his life in Dallas and wants her forever...if he can get out of his own way.

Dallas Bradshaw had lived a lonely life, having been forced into pageants and a modeling career by her viscous mother, until she finally broke free and went after her dreams of becoming a nurse. She separated herself from the life her mother tried to force her into by getting tattoos, walking away from a lucrative modeling career, and going to college in New York City with her best friends Harper, Lana, and Linc. When she meets Axton Cage for the first time, she is not impressed at all. Yet somehow, she falls under his spell (despite trying her hardest to fight his charms) and falls in love with him, all the while believing that he is in love with someone else.

Will they finally get on the same page and give into the one thing they both want...each other?

This book is FANTASTIC and I very highly recommend it to not just all Terri Anne Browning fans, but to anyone that loves a steamy read! FIVE MEGA STARS!!!
