LOVE'S ETERNAL PRISONER !!!

Wow! This is my first time reading Kim Faulks and I must say, I am impressed! Enslaved is the third novella in The Fire and Ice Series and it is an all you can eat buffet of danger, suspense, unknown enemies, adventure, paranormal romance, mystical creatures and past lives. The story is exciting, original, imaginative, thrilling, suspenseful, riveting, intelligent, romantic, arousing, sensual and steamy. The dialog is smart, crisp and flows beautifully. There are a few editing errors but overall, very well written. The characters are fascinating, captivating, engaging and sexy as sin. Natalie Sommers is a professional bodyguard. She is also a trained killer. She has completed two tours in Afghanistan and has licenses to carry five different weapons. As lethal as she is, her newest client, sexy Alexander Ash, just may be the death of her -again! Alexander Ash is a vampire and suffers the curse of his immortal life to always search for his beloved Kasia. He has found her in her present life as Natalie Sommers living in Sydney, only to have her ripped away by the Djinn, Malik who also loves and desires the lovely Natalie. Malik was the one who found her as Kasia in her original life, bloody and torn in the arms of Alexander and since, he has hated Alexander as much if not more than Alexander hates him. The hate shared by these two men is a deep seated hate born from their love of her and festering for centuries. Malik, an creature born of fire while Alexander, reborn in death and cold as ice - her fire and ice. They both want her and both are determined to have her! Natalie loves them both but knows she can trust neither but from the dark recesses of her mind, her heart reminds her that she could always trust Grayson, her ex-partner, the man who loved her but to whom she could never commit. She and Malik travel to Arabia to unravel the mystery of her past. But before she can return to Australia, Natalie is abducted by Kaige, a mysterious female vampire. She is beaten, tortured, starved, abused and used by the evil vampire and her cruel band of mythological creatures. But why? What does this creature want from Natalie? Will her two lover's find her before it's too late or will Natalie lose her mind and quite possibly her life at the hand of her captors? The answers she so desperately seek may very well cost her the ultimate price - her own human life and her mortality! Oh my! Sexy vampire-check! Handsome Djinn-check! Beautiful heroine-check! A menagerie of mystical creatures-check! Suspense, betrayal, unknown enemies and danger-check! Romance, love and steamy sex-Oh yeah! Faulks drew me into her web of magic and fantasy on page one and held me totally enthralled until the very last page. I could not put this book down. I loved it! I can hardly wait to read part four. Exhilarating, satisfying and entertaining!

Enslaved - An Erotic Paranormal Thriller (The Fire and Ice Series)

I was supplied with this copy by author but as always on the basis that my opinion is honestly held and not influenced by whether the book was free or paid for. Integrity of reviewers is important to me, and false reviews do no favours to authors or readers.
Well, onto the third instalment. I'd loved the first two so was looking forward to what would happen to Natalie next. We meet her when she's been caught captive by yet another supernatural being. She thinks it may be Marrah, the last supernatural who she recently escaped from but it turns out to be someone else, Kaige, a ruthless and cruel vampire. She thinks she's finally broken Natalie by keeping her in captivity chained in the dark, and fed very little, and finally she allows her out to join the rest of the gang where she becomes a plaything for a horrific band of supernaturals. There are some quite atrociously cruel scenes both in her capture and her escape attempt that are a bit stomach churning if you're a feeble wimp like me! My kids laugh (and the grand kids) as anything remotely gory makes me cringe and get out of the room so it could just be me that finds these scenes a turn off. They do fit the story well though - I just wish I didn't paint such a graphic mental image when reading them...
I missed Alexander and Malik in this book - we only see them via dreams sadly - but given the book was so short that's unavoidable. I want to commnet on the lenth here - I think �1.97 for just 54 pages is too expensive. I know we can pay more than that for a magazine that gets thrown away but there's so much competition on ebooks that this seems a little too much money. A longer book would have been better too - the last book was 239kb compared to this at 153kb for the same price. I note the next book is back to 242kb for the same price and I'm looking forward to what happens next to Natalie- I have the book already but needed to get this review written before I started as I don't want to muddle the two books. Now I can crack on with her and see where she has got to and hopefully catch up with Malik and Alexander too. One thing Natalie can safely say - her life is never boring!
Stars: well edited once again, and thankfully Kim writes quite quickly so readers don't have to wait a year for each new instalment, but- and its a big But - I do feel its priced wrongly, I missed seeing Alexander and Malik - the stories have been as much about the as Natalie so far and I felt the lack of their presence so I'm going for 3 and half stars this time.

Dark And Fantastic!!!

Kim Faulks created another amazing installment to her 'Fire and Ice' series. 'Enslaved' grabs you from the very first sentence and refuses to let go!
Natalie is in trouble - held captive by an unknown and vicious group of...people?? In a dark dungeon she awaits what is to come next, be it death or freedom *Anything* to get the shackles that bind her to the floor and ceiling disengaged from her deteriorated and ravaged limbs. They spit on her, taunted and teased her, beat her, and starved her of both food and water. She is filthy, still wearing the same undergarments she had worn the day of the abduction. She is bruised, battered and broken. The only spark of life left in her is her spirit, her strength of heart, but even that is flickering on the brink of being extinguished.
Alexander visits her in her dreams. She recognizes his voice, and the feelings she gets when she's near him. She knows he is trying to hold on to her, to pull her from the existence she has been forced into, but she can't let him known what's being done to her. It would ruin them both, and she refused to do that to him.
The plot only thickens from here. I'd love to tell you, but it is more fun waiting for you to read it so we can all see your reactions! *Wicked Grin*
Natalie surprises me each time I pick up a book from this series. Her character builds dimensions as the story progresses, and we are allowed to see her pride, strength, vulnerability, love, and hopes. Kim is such an amazing author. She creates vibrant and enthralling characters, scenes and plots. I look forward to reading her publications each time I find a new one, positive that it will take me along a path full of the unexpected. I would *love* to read more on our triangle of lovers and monsters.
One little note, though: The ending KILLED me! Talk about a cliff-hanger!! That only means there will definitely be another book!
